Peter Lee (Li)

We received an e-mail yesterday from Lin & Yefu about Peter. It reads "Peter has been accept ed in MD PhD program at U Mass Medical School. It is a 7-year program with all tuition free. He'll also receive 30-K stipend annually. He also got an interview at Harvard Medical School for MD only program. Anyway, he'll join one of them. Lin is very happy, because he'll be close to home."

John's Saturday Visit & Other Stuff

Finally a new post from the Neandersons.

Living in Utah or Arizona is considered the fly-over zone. So, it's unusual to have John for a visit. Mostly he markets to UBS' clients on the west coast and on the east coast. But John had a rare UBS conference in the Park City, Utah area on Thursday. On Friday he and other conference attendees went to the snow basin area near Ogden for Cat Skiing. The area was selected with fresh power and no ski lifts. Skiers were taken up the hill by snow cats. John said the experience was great.

He showed up in Provo Friday evening and spent Friday and Saturday nights at our home. We had a wonderful dinner on Saturday consisting of wild sockeye salmon steaks which John cooked, rice curry which Marge made from scratch with all of the ingredients, fresh cooked spinach and a tossed salad. Good stuff and somewhat on my diet.

I started the MedFast diet on Monday and have lost 7 pounds. I have passed the 200# barrier and hope to drop to 170. What do you think Cathi? Am I doing OK?

If I meet my weight goals I hope to earn the "no belly prize" at the family reunion. I can only hope.

John has an iPad. Impressive. He called his home in Bejing and we talked to and watched live action with Hui, Sophie and Lazarus along with Hui's parents.

Marge and I plan to drive to southern California next week and spend some time with Dave, Jackie, Nathan and Stephanie. We will visit the Specks in late April and May. Ben will be baptised May 5.

I have been quite busy with preparation of estate planning documents for some old clients including, Sansome (Kelsey, California), Wilkins (El Dorado Hills, California) and Bagley (Rexburg, Idaho). Other matters I've been busy with: a Reg. D filing with the SEC for Friday Nite Productions (to raise money for a stage play and movie). This is a project by a friend I knew during high school and early BYU days. Also, Hank and I are finalizing our book for the printer. The new title is: "Estate Planning Secrets Of The Rich And Their Advisors". I don't see a movie in the future.

Jim Adams (Sonoma, California) and I will be scheduling a trip to San Jose del Cabo soon to list the condo in the La Jolla complex for sale.

Marge is doing very well since her knee replacement surgery in December. She walks well and is glad she did the deed. My broken left arm is healed and I now have maximum use. The human body is a wonderful creation.

The time is 1:50 a.m. and I'm starting to fall asleep. So I will publish my post.

Elder Jared Vasquez

We had a wonderful experience over the past 3 days. All of you remember Claudia Rodriguez who, with her mother and brothers, lived in our basement in Mapleton for nearly 2 years. Marge was very involved in helping the family immigrate to Canada in the late 1980s. They moved to Calgary. Claudia married Hector Valsquez and they have two sons, Jared and Pablo.

About 6 months ago Hector's Canadian company asked him to take an assignment in Havana, Cuba dealing with a power plant joint venture with the Cuban Government. So they moved and now live in Havana. Hector tells us that there is a small LDS branch with about 25 members. And, I believe, that he and Jared have been teaching a family who now want to join the church.

Anyway, Jared received his mission call to the Budapest Hungary mission and went into the Provo MTC today.

The rest of the family is on their way back to Havana.

Who, When & Where, Part 2

Here's an assortment of photos. See if you can identify who is in the photo and when and where the photo was taken. As always, there will be no order in how the photos fall in the blog.

Who, When & Where

I have recently been going through old photos and scanning them to my computer files. With that large data base of photos I am going to post a few and see if you can identify who, when and where.

I will post more in the coming weeks. I have lots and lots of photos over a 75 year period. Sorry that I don't know how to organize the photos in the right sequence.

Hart Land Photos

Ellie and Nico literally climbing the walls.

Below is Ellie and Anders.

Anders & Liam in the crib. Just home from the hospital in the car seats.

Anders is thinking of grabbing Liam's pacifier

She is big and bigger.

Marge is back. She has returned from her "quest" with the Hart twins and their cute and engaging siblings. We're talking Ellie and Nico. Nico invited Marge to play chess with him. To set Marge at ease Nico told her that he "would be easy on her because she didn't know how to play." He was and she didn't. Nico decided the computer was a better challenge. But Marge did engage in other games, pick-up-stick, card games, etc. Nico and Ellie are gamers.

During her stay she took a number of photos which we now post. The first is Ellie on her first day of school. She is a SweetHart and a pretty good MiniMum and Nico is a helpful big brother.
