The $50 Movie
During the evening of August 17 Cathi, Marge, Dan & I decided to go the "dollar" movie in the Plum Tree plaza in Provo. When we arrived for the 10:30 p.m. movie the tickets were actually $.75 each. What a deal! So how, you wonder, did a $.75 movie ticket end up costing $50. Here's what happened.
When we arrive there were lots of cars in the movie parking lot. Mom (the driver) decided that because she had a sore knee she would park in a designated "Handicapped" spot near the theater. Cathi advised "don't do it" and volunteered to drop mom, Dan and I off at the theater and then find a parking stall. Mom chose to ignore the advice.
So, after the movie we came out about 12:30 a.m. only to find the car gone. It had been towed. When I finally located the car the tab was $145.
We finally arrived home at 1:30 a.m.
Dan couldn't understand why it took so long to find our car-- especially because by that time the parking lot was nearly empty.
The moral of the story? There are several. ONE - Don't park in a handicapped spot without a handicapped authorization. TWO - Some commercial areas (Plum Tree for example) have patrol vehicles to enforce the rules. THREE - It can be very expensive and it was.
